Honeymoon Vacations
Experience the Greatest Honeymoon Vacation
Planning for honeymoon travel?
My boyfriend and I are getting married October 2010.
We plan on taking a 7 day honeymoon to somewhere like Jamaica, Bahamas, or some other place in the carribean.
Questions:
1. When is the best time to book a vacation like this? (How long before the trip)
2. What time of the year is the most affordable to go to a place like this (Outside of hurricane season)
3. What is the best place to go through to get the best deals?
We've never planned something like this before so anyone out there with advice or a site (travel agent) that would be so helpful! Thank you!
I'd also say that booking as far in advance as possible can only make things easier. One thing you might want to consider is a vacation rental instead of a hotel. I've always found that the price is just about the same, and sometimes cheaper, and you'll have your own place to stay in, instead of a crowded hotel. Owner Direct Vacation Rentals is the place I always use for planning trips. They have a page with lots of places in Jamaica here: http://www.ownerdirect.com/lodging/caribbean/jamaica/jamaica.htm and lots to choose from in the Bahamas too: http://www.ownerdirect.com/lodging/caribbean/bahamas/bahamas.htm
Definitely use a travel agent for booking your flights, etc, as they can often find you better deals than you might find on your own, though I've always had good luck with booking flights at the Flight Network: http://www.flightnetwork.com/ where you just pop in your dates/times, and it finds the best deals on flights for you. Again. As far in advance as possible usually gets you better deals. I say "usually" because there are the occasional last minute deals on some flights… it all depends on where you're going.
Have a great honeymoon!

it would be smart to book it as soon as possible, that way if fuel prices go sky high you will already have your tickets. I went through expedia and got a great deal on a 4 star hotel, round trip tickets and a rental car for $2800 to Maui HI, Orbitz is decent too.

We booked our trip to Hawaii through AAA and I think they are wonderful. They give you one on one time to ask all the questions you want. You can also plan your trip, Make a down payment & then make payments on it. They also have a lot of books that you can take & study before you make your decision. I have several Hawaii books they gave me and we leave April 12th. When we get back we are going to start planning another trip for next year or the year after that. We are thinking of a cruise in the Caribbean and I mentioned it to my wonderful agent at AAA and he gave me to different cruise books for the Caribbean and from just glancing through it they seem to be wonderful trips. It is best if you are a member but not necessary I don't think. I looked at several companies before booking with them and they gave me the best deal.
