Experience the Greatest Honeymoon Vacation

Where is a great *affordable* honeymoon destination for September 2008…suggestions?

I'm getting married on 9/27. We're 22, & are in school & working full time, so, we don’t have a lot of money. I'm looking for ideas. Hotel on the beach? A cruise? We aren't sure if we can travel anywhere outside of the US (financial reasons) but it would be awesome if we could just come up some ideas. I HAVE TO HAVE THE OCEAN OR A SEA OR SOME LARGE BODY OF WATER. If he could go anywhere in the world, it would be China or Paris. I would love to go to Japan, Mexico, Spain, Italy, or the Caribbean. My mom suggested, Nashville or Gatlinburg the other day. There is ABSOLUTELY nothing wrong with those places, I just would prefer those places as vacation spots for when we have kids…not as a honeymoon. We are attempting to get as much luxury as we can of course. The destination you suggest doesn't have to be any of these places. Money is the name of the game. Any suggestions are appreciated. If you know the round about cost, that's even better! Again, thanks for any suggestions & prices!
We are from southwestern Ohio. Sorry forgot to mention that…

usually vacations in mexico around this time are really reasonable since it is hurricane season. going to italy or europe would be quite lovely but VERY VERY expensive. you would be looking at least six grand to go there.

try puerto vallarta mexico! here is a link to where we are having our honeymoon at this june. our room is the honeymoon suite with a wrap around balcony and private outdoor jacuzzi. it is adults only and all-inclusive. it will cost us only three grand for airfare and the resort.

since you didnt say which side of the US you are from that can make a difference also. if you live on the west coast try hawaii or even tahiti! on the east coast perhaps a cruise?
the tennesse idea your mom suggested sounds nice but i think would get boring afterawhile. have you looked into poconas though? that *might* be okay. we considered it for like 30 minutes and changed our mind. lol…

not sure of where you are exactly located…
If you're on the west coast you could maybe pick up a cheap flight to Hawaii?
If you're in some of the more southern states maybe Mexico could be an option?
Does the body of water have to be natural or could you choose somewhere that just has an awesome pool for you guys to relax by?
    Florida somewhere?

I wouldn't choose Mexico - my daughter went there for honeymoon 2 years ago from UK and got caught up in hurricane Wilma. That was beginning of October.

check out bookingbuddy.com. It lets you search all the vacation websites from one site. We are going on a honeymoon in 9/08 as well and the cheapest things we found so far were a cruise to Bermuda ($2000 all inclusive for 2 people for 7 days), and a resort in the Dominican republic ($2400 for a week, all inclusive, including air). You can usually get deals to Florida but most likely not the keys or Disney ($$$$). You can always go to Vegas for pretty cheap too. Congrats and good luck!

Stay away from the Caribbean - it's hurricane season! Go to Mexico, somewhere like Acapulco, P. Vallarta or Cabo & get a package. You can't beat the prices in Mexico

We were married on the Oregon coast (outside of Lincoln City) at the Salishan Lodge. The location is on a golf course next to the beach. It was very affordable overall and would be the perfect location for a romantic honeymoon. There are also a lot of little places to stay along the Oregon coast. And September is the best time to travel there.
